Police Protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves.

Police do not protect you from crime, I repeat, police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take a whoopin'.

Scott Stone, I never realized phoenix was bad like that? Number two, its proven that states where it is easier to obtain a weapons permit (and more people carry) actually have lower crime rates. Here in Rhode Island its very very hard to get a CWP. You have to go through the secretary of state himself and then even if he aproves it your local police chief has to give it the ok as well. I thought about trying a couple years ago but after I found out the hoops they make you jump through I didnt bother. Now with obama in I think I might try again before things get worse...

I carry 24/7. Utah CCW. Worse case scenario is some lawless ass try to rob you or car jack you, pulls a weapon on you and you have no way to defend yourself because you decided not to carry that day.

If you haven't made your purchases yet, no time better than right now. I started stocking up almost a year ago, assuming the Democrats would be the majority in 2009. Obama has made it clear he will reinstate the Brady Law, and seeks to end all Gun Shows, private sale and legislate that all ammo produced will be produced with serial numbers on the casings and round, and all hand loads and pre legislature ammo be surendered and destroyed by 2011.

Best investment you can make today is high capacity magizine handguns and so called "assault" weapons. I bought several more AR 15's maybe 6 months ago. To give you an example, the Bushmaster AR 15 A4 I bought 6 months ago for $820 out the door is now selling for $1499.00, plus tax. After the ban goes into effect that weapon will be worth $4000.00, easy.

I bought a full automatic Colt AR 15 back in 1983 for $320. That weapon today is worth $25,000.

Ammo has gone up 20 to 25% already (supply and demand). I suggest you stock up now, buy another safe if necessary. Best investment going currently.

I'll end with this fact, we had a Gun Show here in Phoenix a couple weeks ago. I had several buddies who had tables at this show. Opening day (Friday) my one friend did over $100,000 in sales, just selling ammo and scopes. It was a madhouse, people literally pushing their way through the crowds just to get to tables.

Had only one guy give me a problem @ about 3:45am he kept circleing on his bike and asked to bum a smoke. sory dont smoke ciggarets bro. kept cruising by for about 15min. then made his move.by this time i was de-gumming.guy pulled a knife and i was luck to see his shadow on the wall not realizing he had pulled a knife. asked me for my boots and wallet or hell stab me i told him tonight wasnt the night to F-with me. saw him pull his arm back and sprayed his ass with 220*+ on the chest. saw his skin burn & blister then sprayed his hand with the knife. cops got there before the EMTs a hancuffed me for who knows what.but they later found his knife and meth in his poket. it was a shitty night but that guy will never approch a PWer again. so ithink i should get my licence.

I usually have a gun with me........I also never go out at night and work alone. Someone is always with me. Cost me a little on some job that I could do myself but 4 eyes out there paying attention is better than 2.
I also like what one of the guys posted in another post I read a few weeks ago.......he always keeps a 0 degree in his pocket, and if someone suspicious starts to approach he swaps out the tip.
I have seen what a 0 does to hard surface, would hate to see what it would do to the human body!!

Chris picked up a 1911 45 today. Open carry is legal here and we are starting to see more and more OC guys walking around.

Chris' thought is the 1911 is big enough to carry on a side holster and no cops can accuse him of concealed carry (CWP = CCW in Nevada). (The law says open carry = the average person can tell it's a gun) Also, it will help weigh him down when high winds come up.

It only holds 7 rounds and it weighs about 30% more than most of the new 45 subcompacts but it didn't cost too much and he likes the thinner feel in his hand instead of the hi cap fat grips.

Now he needs to look for a good retention holster so some moron can't grab it. It needs to be easy to draw so he doesn't pull a Barney Fife should the need ever arise.

I carried concealed before so I don't know anything about retention holsters. Any suggestions?

I drive a gas tanker at night and am not alowd to carryon the job. Most of us at work carry Black Flag wasp spray. It will shoot 21ft and it is wors than pepper spray.
when I am pwing I sometimes do and sometimes don't just depends on where I am going.
