I Order a 12" SC, But What I Got Is A Helicopter

Al, I give. What is that?

It's one of those concrete sprinkler head protectors. Unhook your hose, set it around the swivel. Hook back up. It centers the weight and keeps the deck even. I use mostly 4 gpm on my surface cleaners, but when I use 8 I put one of these on. One benefit of it being concrete is that the sh doesn't bother it.

Flying surface cleaners are a common problem. It seems to me that there's an opportunity here for a manufacturer.

Publish a table that shows a relationship between SC size and pump PSI/GPM output so that the customer would know ahead of time that he's going to have a helicoptering problem. The table could also tell the customer how much weight would be necessary to keep it on the ground.

Make machines that come already set up for adding weight(s) and offer the weights. On my new 12" Steel Eagle I would have gladly paid up for such an option. I had to buy the weights anyway, but screwing around costs a lot more money.

I've only seen one surface cleaner under 24" that doesn't fly away with 8 gpm. - The 20" Landa Water Jet. I really think most of the 20 and unders are designed for 4 or 5 1/2 gallon machines.
