Pump recommendation?

Doing ok Chris, just saw an opportunity to rib you a little...:lmao:

Saw your remote with solenoid, that thing sure looks nice.

I am not the one that keeps dragging this out, you are.

Quit trying to change your story or mention things and it will be done with, this can drag out a long time, a very long time. hahahahaha

Not cranky, he just mentioned something about modifying or something about air compressors then it is changed around to having to buy a larger compressor and now it is that it was just slang from his town. I don't know what to believe as he keeps changing his story.

I was hoping that there was a modification that you could do to an air compressor to get more cfm's out of it the way he mentioned it but it turns out that you just have to buy a larger air compressor. Could have said that instead of saying that you could just step it up or whatever nonsense he was saying.

O Well. Whatever.

How you doing Russ?

I never mentioned anything about modifying your compressor and my story has never changed.

There's a few different models of allflo pumps too.. they look the same but have different insides.

Yeah, I cant remember what ours was, but I know it wasn't supposed to require rinsing.... sh can be tough on things though.

I decided to buy another 1/2" Flo Jet G57 10 GPM pump. It has served us well so no reason to rework our system. I am going to try a few different tips to see if that helps get that little extra height I am looking for. I use a 20 Ga air tank, 13 CFM at 90 PSI.

Try a 30 dia nozzle. I used to use larger diameter nozzles and just wasted SH and it did not get near the distance.

Wow, go back and read where you mentioned about stepping up the compressor, not changing it out, not buying another, but stepping it up.

O Well, whatever.

I rarely rinse our roof pump. Thats probably what did it in.

It is strange but the SH is more corrosive than acids or caustics, very hard on a lot of parts.

Sorry to hear about your pump, I thought that brand was a good brand and that it was one of the few actually engineered for using with SH.

I also thought it had a 5 year warranty. Do you still have it? The receipt? Was it the one rated for SH?

I am running a flojet pump with 2 - 12 volt battery backup pumps for redundancy. I use a 12 volt FatBoy & a pentaflex with a 30 dia 0 degree tip. If you turn the pressure switch up to where it shoots 70 psi will will get 40 ft with no problem. The more pressure you use the sooner you will blow a head seal. I prefer running it a 60 psi and shooting 30 ft and the seals last a longer time.

They say you can get 40 ft out of the flojet with a bigger compressor but I only have a wheelbarrow compressor with a 6.5 hp Honda not a 13 hp hotdog type.

Marcus, are you flushing out your roof pump at the end of the day every day?

Yes, it was rated for sh. You're probably right about the warranty. I haven't worried about it though...

The flo jets have been good to us.

No Chris, I do not flush my pumps out everyday. There are not that many people here that know that roofs can be cleaned in Houston Texas with no pressure roof cleaning with immediate long lasting money saving results. A few yes, but a lot need to be educated. That is why I like competition in my area, to help other roof cleaners advertise for me. Therefore I wash my pumps out after every roof cleaning job to make them last.

Chris, I would understand step up as upgrade (get a better one), not modifying... I think the dictionary definition is along the lines of 'an increase in size, amount or power'.

However, if I was confused about the intent of the statement or meaning of 'stepping up', I would ask for clarification first.

Slang or not, there was no insinuation that he had a solution for upgrading existing systems and he didn't 'change his story'... Merely stated, 'stepping up' your compressor can lead to better performance.

Your right, this could drag on for a long time - but it's not going to because it's a non-issue.

Please take this in the context it is written ... Play nice

That is the problem I have down here also, people just don't know you can clean roofs safely, without using damaging pressure or bad, dangerous chemicals like degreasers on asphalt shingles which would weaken the asphalt and help the granules get loose.

Education is part of the answer but it does take time, effort and money on our parts to do this, wonder what other ways this can be done inexpensively to educate large amounts of people quickly without costing a lot of money?

Maybe we should help put together a Texas meeting for those that do roof cleaning? I know a few that would try to make it but with fleets, it would have to be during the week but I think that could interfere with your scheduling. Maybe start having some conference calls in the evenings where more could join?

What do you think?

Chris, a Texas roof cleaning get together would be an idea but I am not sure how it would benefit all of us on promoting roof cleaning in the great state of Texas. Texas is so large and prime picking for roof cleaning. Time is precious and I do not have the time to waste between running a roof cleaning business in Houston Tx and raising a family. We have had a few get together s of roof cleaners in Houston thanks to AC coming through town but nothing was accomplished at any of the roof cleaning meetings. Once we me at a BBQ joint but they ran out of ribs while I was waiting in line because roof cleaner Doug was ahead of me and ate them all. lol
