Simple Green

I am not sure that was soot it should have came out for you i just know here in virginia beach we have a lot of jets flying over and a lot of the exhaust gets on the roofs.

i heard the jet thing was just rumor, soot is called soot when its still a powder, it can wipe off, carbon is when it gets hot like in your engine on the valves and can be chilsed off or sand blasted. what im finding on houses with chimneys is that they are burning cheap wood or have a flue problem and then the soot on the roof mixed with the rain turns it into black indian ink. tattoo stuff. maybe the greasers could help. lye maybe? Professor? Professor? wheres the Professor? Oh he's with Maryann. lol

hey Chrisduffy let me know if you find anything for the soot, last year i cleaned a roof and the long streak of black soot at the base of the chimney on the tiles stuck out like a sore thumb. i went back 3 times with krud cutter, rust aid, a degreaser, and my nephew hit it with straight pressure, nothing. Bob said f-13 should work.

For most soot stains I have had success with a Sodium Hydroxide based soap.
Has to be fairly strong for most stains but it will melt it. On shingles I would watch the dwell time and keep it to a minimum.

TSP Is The Answer

Read - Trisodium Phosphate

TSP

Preferred by painting and cleaning professionals for removing heavy deposits of greasy grime, smoke, soot stains and chalked paint from walls, woodwork and floors. Removes mildew and mildew stains when mixed with bleach. Cleans and prepares surfaces for repainting. Also recommended for washing away paint remover sludge.

Try the simple green concentrate I use it on gutters with some success.
It will work well on gutters, it is butoxyethanol, same chit as gutter zap has in it.

thats a good idea John. i thought the Automotive version was stronger

did you mention anything to the simplgreen people about mixing with bleach if so what did they say?

Has any one ever tried purple power?

I have been using simple green in all of my mixes now it smells great for house wahes. For roof washes it smells good but it doesnt totally mask the smell of SH. Also i have let it sit a couple days and it did not weaken.

Has any one used puple power with there house wash mix? I dont know if it can be added with bleach
