When the customer asks?

Most people down here in FL know that bleach is the primary product, I may have been asked that question a handfull of times over all these years.

It takes too much trial and error though. I have people tell me bleach doesn't work. Some people don't believe it can come off. They want me to look at it first and then it is still hard to convince them. If I wasn't so confident they would not believe it at all. Like they tried already or something??

There are so many ways to skin a cat, why talk about them all if you don't have to unless you are trying, trying to impress someone to make yourself feel better about something. So many insecurities out there, seems like we are drowning in it.

We have branded out own names an msds sheets for our chems. Our employees no nothing but that.

Our concrete cleaner is Jasco our grease fighter jam. They are labeled as such. We do not market them.

Thats what I was serching for! We also have a name for our roof mix, we dont sell or advertise it either but we have a name for it.

like Shingle Guard or Stain Changer or Roof Shine ? Just my 2 cents.

For roof cleaning and house washing I tell them, when asked, it is a bleach based solution, with water and soap added. I am always suprised at how many people actually are HOPING that is what I am using. They always say there house not only looks so clean, but smells clean also.

I call it roof cleaner to the customer and sometimes roof juice if I have workers with me. Names are very important for communicating on the job site.Your ground help needs to know what you want or they will do something stupid and unimaginable.

I used to worry about people asking what we use, but a lot better to just tell them. Most people don't ask but if they do I think they have a right to know what you are using on their property. I personally don't care but if someone was working on my house and using chemicals around the kids I don't have I would expect them to tell me the truth.

I tell my roof cleaning customers in the Houston Texas metro area that I am cleaning their roofs with Sodium Hypochlorite and a product called Green Wash that I do not buy from Lowe's or Home Depot hardware stores.

I hope you are not using Sodium Hydroxide on the roofs.

Sodium Hypochlorite isn't Hydroxide. It is the chemical composition for bleach. Curiously, it wasn't that long ago that many guys were using Hydroxide on roofs. I think it was Chris Apple, down in Florida that changed that, at least from my memory. Others may have used it first, but he is the one that came on the boards and explained it to so many.

I tell them its sodium hypochlorite , the one of the main ingredients , with soaps and thickners , when they want to know more , I ask tell them coke has been in business for over 100 years by keeping their recipe secret . My area has a lot of government workers with clearences , I tell them " ask me no secrets and I will tell you no lies " When someone says they can use bleach and do it themselves , I tell them go for it , get a 2 gallon bug sprayer and get ready for 30 trips up and down a ladder .
