Out of 55 views, only 6 people took the time (3 seconds) to vote.

I give up. I just don't think people really want to learn Marketing/Advertising, or at least contribute to the education process.

**Notice - the three that did vote and responded with a comment have large operations and a thriving business -- Imagine that.

The one that started the thread to help others - gross over $120,000 in his second year of business.

Tim, I appreciate the confidence but, One Call is just a 4 rig operation with just myself and ( 3 subcontractors, he he), Ron and Everett could probably fit in as large operations. Hey, we struggle also. But thanks for the promotion.

I am a little suprised that more members did not answer, I was looking forward to it. I am always looking to do better some where. I need to be like Everett and Franchise. I dont know.

By the way Everett, thanks for the info on Cabot. We have decided to go with this brand and possibly Wood Tux. Beth is bringing a sample pack for me to try out Saturday (Wood Tux).

A 4 Rig operation is kind of big compared to most.

I'm officially on vacation - see you at the top.

Yellow pages work best for us. I sometimes do targeted postcard mailings. The response is not fabulous, but people hold onto them and call months later.........

Hey give me a break I've been busy!!
For me advertising in the small local papers service directory works best. We also have signs on all the trucks and the big pressure washing rig. We also have road signs too, and we give out magnetic business cards.. Out of all the options you list in the poll these have been the best for us.

Vacation - Run 3 businesses, financial consutant, daughter's soccer coach. Thats my vacation.

Over the winter, I've been working on the marketing engine - the oil has been changed and the engine has been tuned-up, now its time to rev up the engine and go full steam ahead.

See you guys at the top.

Just saw the poll and have to add my 2 cents. I am having way to much fun on these bb. And since Mobile Power Wash of New England is succesful I thought that I would give you my feedback on what has worked for us. Yellow Pages, display ads in the newspaper, door hangers, direct mail, word of mouth, advertising on the trucks is like a moving billboard. Networking with other types of contractors and charity work brings free advertising and alot of exposure. Good luck to all

Mobile Power Wash of New England

PS forgot the yard signs and our magnetic Mobile Power Wash of New England truck desgin for the fridge. We also send out a courtsey post card on the same street that we had just cleaned and they should take a look

Nancy

Do you have good results with the courtsey post cards?

Something I do, is hang doorhangers before I do the job. With the customers permission - I invite them to take a look at the roof for example. So that they can really get a before and after look. Also this works best in old establish nieghborhoods. A lot more word of mouth going on.

My best results come from the free local Journal newspaper. Every Sunday a Home and Garden section is included and my add appears there. I run the add from Mid March through the end of July. I do have a yellow book add, but don't get the volume of calls that the paper brings.

How much does the newspaper ad cost?

The major part for me comes form the Yellow Pages first by far and the newspaper second. I run a 6 month ad in the paper. I tried the valpak coupons. They were junk. I will send direct mailing to select business for post construction brick, car lots, heavy machinery, etc. I also hand out little house shaped magnets with all my info on it to people. I track all my advertising and few people say they got it from the trailer or truck.

My add runs for 18 weeks and hits the entire county with 4 cities. cost is 128.72 per week. The paper has it's own graphic design artist and here is the add that runs.

Thats a sharp ad. I love the picture.

After I see that ad a couple of times - When I think of "Reed's Deck & Fence Care" -- I think Professional, Quality, etc.

Tim we do the thing with the door hangers when we clean we do at least 5 around. The yard signs and postcards bring in some work and the word of mouth. But the continual newspaper ads that we have been running for 18 years really help. The spring clean up ads, the paint prep ads, and the column that I write in a local newspaper getting my plugs ever so suttle. Hehehhe Good luck to all
