FORCED To Reclaim on Fundraiser Car Wash

EPA's Model Ordinance BMPs

I am sorry, but I have had a major inner ear problem that has had me down since Memorial Day with surgery on June 9th.

Now I have completed a program for reasonable, rational, and logical BMPs for municipalities based on the EPA’s Cosmetic Cleaning Model Ordinance on the EPA’s website. This was a combined effort of UAMCC and PWNA. The program was presented to EPA Region 6 (which is Texas and all of the surrounding states) on June 23 in Houston by Larry Hinckley filling in Robert Hinderliter.

The program includes time tested BMPs with a model power point presentation which Municipalities can use to develop their own BMPs. Charlotte, NC’s “Management of Wash Water Runoff from Pressure Washing and Vehicle Detailing” on April 30, 2009 which worked with UAMCC is shown as an example for others to follow.

All of this information is included on a DVD/CD which can be given to your local regulator to modify and develop their own program. Within the next 30 days most of the information will be upon UAMCC and PWNA’s websites. However, if you are in a bind now contact me on my cell phone for immediate help at 817-366-3041.

If the industry speaks with a united voice for reasonable, rational, and logical regulations then everyone can prosper while protecting the environment.

Jim I am curious, maybe I missed it before and didnt see it but could you post pics or a pic of your reclaim unit?

We have all seen the Hot water rig numerous times but I dont remember ever seeing your filtration and reclaim unit

I would like to see that as well.

We need to be assured that people stop writing incorrect BMPs' Robert. We should also be contacting QC to see if they could revise this. Its not right and should be changed.

Jim, your wrong again. The UAMCC & PWNA along with Robert has accomplished the proper BMP results in the past few weeks. Spreading incorrect information like you do as it relates to nothing is whats hurting the industry. Just when we have broken some ground here with Al you say i hope this takes the heat off you? Al had no heat on him, as a freind and the passion I asked Al to truly look deep. I think he has said in his last paragraph crystal clear about what he really sees.

Al is a Christian, he struggles with this stuff because its complicated. Jim frankly you cause alot of it.

Its not a sen deal, the CWA is written well. The mis-information you try to imply is damaging to the industry. I got the call like some others got today from some california autorities. Its going to Blow up and dont say i didnt warn you. We have all seen good people hurt each and everytime someone wants to push the envelope.

You don't have millions to fight them Jim, a competitor will catch you on video doing something wrong, Worse one of your subs gets nailed. I dint wish it on you Jim, but we have all seen it happen time and time again.

We should be fighting responsible washing together and not apart. But theres always someone who thinks they can be elite.

Funny, I did not mention any names.... in fact I wasn't even thinking of those guys. Funny you are. Sound like some idkwnwn there.

As far as Millions, we all do not have Millions to fight them. I am glad you confirmed this in your post.

As far as " Blowing up in our face" . We are 10 to 15 years ahead of requirements. The only way it will " Blow up in our face " as you elegantly put it, is if my guys forget to hook up the filter.

And with your posts and Al's responses here, you said... not implied, "Al had no heat on him". After reading what you wrote, I beg to differ. All he was doing is stating what happened to him today.

As far as video tapping us, you don't have to worry about that. The environmental authorities already have done that at 3 am to us and many times over the 20 years, in fact it will be in an upcoming article in Cleaner Times. You can read about it.

What till they put a device down in the drain you are working at with a timer to take samples on your location. Been there, had it done... no biggie.

As you say the words " Worry" and requirements, You only have to worry if you are not playing by the rules ( whatever those rules are in your area). It is not that much more effort to reclaim. However if you are only charging 1.3 cents a sq. ft. and volume and time is a major issue, I can see why you would be so upset if this reaches your state, which you implied was tougher than any other state. You should be doing this already, just like Al has to , Russ has to on some sites, ( Otherwise why would he of bought the filtration unit). I as well have been required to reclaim since 1992.

To our company, it is second nature to reclaim. The only thing I do not agree with , and I will say it again, is when using water only to clean sidewalks to remove gum and soda stains. this is where the line should be drawn and I did not agree with reclamation at that point. So if you want to united on this issue... then lets. If you say we should put caustic, soap or other chemicals down the storm drain.... then NO.

By the way, trying to get the photos of the environmental agencies that they took of us for 18 hours per day for 3 days while on a garage. I thought maybe others would like to take a look, but no success as of yet.

Since then, We have had our phone ringing from customers asking to wash their garages.

Point here, we played by the rules, passed all the requirements, been video taped and now, others wants our services because they don't want someone who complains about being complaint when that BMP's are in place and it is required.

We are booked for the rest of the year and are 75% booked for the next 3 years with a 30% paid in full cancellation clause in them. How many can say that?

This should make my phone ring now.... maybe they will stop ringing yours Al. After all, I am use to it, don't like it.... but use to it none the less.

And Ron, if you do not agree with this post this time, and insist that filtering is un-necessary, Just tell me your address and I will be happy to send the waste I have reclaimed down to you and then you can back wash it at your location. You will save me thousands of dollars in discharging. I have seen it.. it smells to high heaven to the point of gagging. I would not want this stuff around my kids. All of this crap from 1 cleaning.

By the way, most of us are christians... religion has nothing to do with this. But if it did, I do not believe God would want this stuff either.

I mean, this stuff really stinks guys. It is the nastiest stuff you have ever seen when it is condensed and the bacteria levels can be high.

I clean in Gwinnett county all the time. For some reason, people that write these citations arent up at 3 AM.

I would like to see that as well.

Tony has seen it and can confirm. It is big and needs a 15kw diesel 4 cyl 2.2 liter generator to run it.

However I will not post it as I have always stated. The filter and our chemical will not be posted. The people who do know, have given their word that they would not reveal the names of the chemicals I use or the description of the filter.

I have been there at 3am too Roger and guess what? I have never seen them either, but i am ready for themjust in case.

In fact I will be there next week and I will be in compliance too:rolleyes:

no waste haulers permit, however I did mention that to him with all the other concerns I have heard on this board, he even agreed its overkill, but he says RIGHT NOW its his job to find violators and he will fine them if they don't try to comply.

Was the guy that talked to you a short black man? Just curious

Jim would like in QC quote
Funny, I did not mention any names.... in fact I wasn't even thinking of those guys. Funny you are. Sound like some idkwnwn there.

You are incorrect, they stopped pressure cleaning. Thats how ridiculous they are , i guess no one told you that. You would be bankrupt...

Jim's suggesting I'm agaist the CWA

I one of the largest and strongest advocates of the CWA. I comply to the letter of the law, Jim you have no clue at what your talking about. You mis-information and outright Lies now are really upsetting.

I hope you told accurate information and implying your regualtions as they relate to the CWA in your area only. (Not mine)

Not reffering to your regs, I was reffering to real eviro contractors getting involved. ( then you will be looking in)

By the way, most of us are christians... religion has nothing to do with this. But if it did, I do not believe God would want this stuff either.

Your right, i was lead to believe that a man might help his fellow contractors and just be honest and explain he has rarley used his unit because the regualtions are written incorrect. ( men will fail you everytime) I was misinformed about good christians.

Again Russ is working currently with agencys & orgs in the south to adopted resonable BMP's , reclaimation is used on certain sites. No one is denying this. Again why are you always extreme one way or another.

I saw something that looked like "Doc" on Back to the Future built it. It had a lot of cobwebs on it and all the tires were dry rotted and flat. :p

No, I'm just joking, here's a picture I snapped when Jim wasn't looking:

And by the way I saw barrels and barrels of Caustic, HF, and 50% bleach all over the place. I don't know what that big deep hole was for in the yard, but it stank to high heaven!:D:D:D

Very, Very funny Tony. hahahahahahahahaha

Thanks Roger for verifying this is normal practice. Has been for five years.

Thank goodness, maybe some will get this now.

If we have no inforcement its not fare to even have BMPs like these. Contractors will never compete fairly.

Thanks Tony that was great. I wonder what type of filter he has to be paying over $3000 to recharge.

I saw it, maybe he exaggerated a little on the cost. It's the tip of a Marlboro light. (Red's allow too many contaminants through.....)
