TWS (Tech Wash) - We are no Longer Providing Service to!

Matthew Norman

Moderator
We are no longer providing service for Tech Wash.

There prices kept getting lower and lower and I had the last straw.

They wanted us to drive 2 hours away for $150.00. They wanted all the sidewalks cleaned at a Target Store that hasn't been cleaned since they probably opened. Gum and Stains Everywhere!!! They used to give us a higher rate when we requested it, especially when the location wasn't close. Now they tell us it's standard pricing and it's not going to change. I told them we have standard pricing too and it's not going to change either.

We had 36 trash compactors scheduled in August and I refused to continue to work at there rates. I'm not going to continue to tear up my vehicle either, it's just not worth it. They can find another dumb a$$ too.

Stand up if you think there prices aren't fair. Companies like this our bad for our businesses. It's time to make positive change in our industry. Get rid of the this middle man.

I once told them when there is a lot of gum it's very time consuming and one of the guys that worked down there said well don't you have one of those surface cleaners that removes gum as you go???? This is how much this company knows about pressure washing.

If they don't want to pay a decent wage for a good quality service let them find someone else. More and likely it will hurt them in the end. Good companies need to stand up and make a change.

REQUEST MORE MONEY!!!

Not just our industry

It's not just our industry. For the last 30 years there has been a movement in this country to discount labor. They love high unemployment so people will work for low wages. Be smart, don't do it without a fair profit and support other industries that sell American products.

Good for you, They low Ball everything they can around here too. It is not worth it like you said, we have enough guys around giving washing away right now. I have one place right now I'm dealing with from Major Cut Rate Prices. You can cut rates when you have a Home Depot Washer and I don't want to even compete with it.

I agree Matt, everyone one should stand together and rasie the standards and pricing for it all.

One of the best defense is to show the actual customer they are not getting a good service.

The JACKS are horrible here....bad..I do not eat at them.

I clean some of the Targets directly for target.

GO DIRECT AND GET THE CONTRACT YOURSELF EVERYONE

Is it just me or is this a big feeling of deja'vu?

Wasn't this discussed very passionately last year and caused a lot of people to get upset and cause some friendships to crumble?

Sorry to hear about that Matthew, after hearing that guy lie to me on the phone a few times that is all I wanted to do with that company. After talking to guys that had dealt with them and got screwed over, that also made me not want to have anything to do with them.

It is a shame that companies want to use those kinds of businesses but I guess when it is a company decision to go with a company to handle all kinds of maintenance and they don't really know that much about them or are bs'd to make it look like they can handle it all, it is usually the contractors that get screwed over along with the main company getting shoddy work for the cheap wages.

Too bad the main company does not know what is going on, doesn't read the bbs's to see how the contractors feel dealing with these middlemen and what kind of work is performed at sub-par wages.

O Well, maybe someday everyone will be on the same page.

Sorry about that again Matthew, I am sure that you will find some other accounts to replace those pita's soon.

Are you going to Tampa? It is going to be one of the best events of the year!

Ive spoken to a couple service companies and just can't bring myself to do any work for one. I wonder if the big corps check out any of the pressure washing boards they might get a eye opener about the service companies.

The big Corps would probably be flattered that they take the same play they made famous when they have companies bid to supply them with their goods.

I think the big corps know exactly whats going on, I think they just want to be able to put a check mark saying its done. Then they will get enough complaints, they will inspect and see how crummy they look and fire TWS and then try to find some other lowballer service company. Some reg Manager will say enough and hire outside, but in this economy, most of them I feel are looking to lower costs on everything and they darn well know if you lower it and lower it, it will lower quality. I think they don't mind sacrificing quality to save the buck

Not all companies are like that but many are and even more in this economy

Matt I don't blame you at all. I looked at doing a couple & many of them but I only looked for about an hour and a couple phone calls and I said no thanks. I rather wash a fricking house for $150 than some disgusting trash compactor. Screw that

Like Ron says go after the work yourself

It is all bottom line issues. The decision makers are un informed and don't care to be informed, you take a kid out of collage and put in in charge of this service, and he ahs no idea about what needs to be done, but he was taught in school to go with the slickest looking proposals and the lowest price, and the big service companies know this.

An educated customer is by far my choice, someone that just gets it, someone who is hands on. That being said, those guys are too far and few between.

A great example of a big service style company running things amuck are the malls, for example ones owned by Simon, they have a maintenance contractor come in cheap with the promise of additional work from the anchor stores and mall tennants. They come in and tell the anchor stores that they have to use the maintenance company for all work, such as pressure washing, BUT, these maintenance companies try to charge a ton for that service and in the end, nothing gets done. I run into it all the time, and I am trespassed from one particular mall for solicitation, nice huh glad to see that the vague laws of Florida working for us.:jester:

Multi disciplined service companies will be the death of some contractors and the birth of some others, cause I don't ever see this industry combining under a collective barging organization.

When one TWS or SMMP fails there is always another to fill that spot, and thats just the way it is.

Get directly to the source, maybe, but rare in my opinion.

I can agree about Simon Joe

Thats just one example, they are all the same, Simon, Westfield, GGP and the like, the Westfield's around here starting closing a half hour early just to save money. And talk about a bunch if crooks, the mall owners take a cut of the individual stores sales on top of rent, but do very little to promote the mall.... example...they dont clean the outside, gum grime, mold what ever. I can only think of one way to combat the malls, set standards localy with the municipality's, start aesthetics boards governed by the local municipality, where i live, all new building must have a similar look, the signs must all be similar, all lawns must be maintained, but when it comes to dirty buildings, roofs, driveways and what not, nothing is said, and I am in a town that has seized lots of properties for code violations.

I think that this would be a good place to start for the org's, I would join if they did something for the industry besides give status with the purchase of membership. I called PWNA a few weeks ago, a couple of days later someone called me and tried to explain the benifits, but I don't remeber him really saying anything, I forget the guys name but if he is here on the board I hope he remembers our conversation, cause I believe he said he would call me back......still waiting, feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but thats what I remeber. I use the PWNA and UAMCC symbol all the time.:nanner: free of charge, still hasn't changed anything for me except that I saved a few hundy$$. Be nice to see them collectively gather some lobbying power -- ANYTHING!
