I have always had a problem with keeping my phone on me when working on a job, and then if I leave it in the truck, if I miss call from a customer, many times when I call back, to say I had a missed call from this number, they will say they have already found someone else. Often times it can be 5-10 minutes later. I have often thought about hiring someone local, but then I have to train them and teach them the right things to say.

Last week I started using April Dodsons new Answering service. Answerworkx. For 49$ per month (50 Calls) her team answers the phone when I forward my phones to them. I only forward them when I am actually on the job. As soon as I get done and heading down the road I turn the call forward off.

I was very pleased last week with April's service. I even called a couple times to test them out and was extremely pleased with how they handle things. They send instant emails to me, which I get at my phone, and everyone that left a message last week, waited for return calls. It seems as long as they get a live person and a promise to call back they don't mind waiting. This is much cheaper than hiring someone and April seem to have trained her people well.

Doug, you couldn't be more correct. If I miss a call, many times I won't get the prospect's job as they found someone to give them an acceptable price quicker. Most times that I am on the job, I forward to my wife who collects the info and gets it to me on my first break. A prospect getting a live person seems to work much better than leaving a voice mail for me to call back at end of day.
 
That sounds like a great idea......what if you get at least 3 to 10 telemarketing calls per day?

Is this limited to 50 calls per month, really?
 
Yes. 50 per month. Not sure about the telemarketing calls. I have one line forwarded all day. The other, my main line, only when I am on a job.

I wonder how she will keep all the phone lines separated because there are a few area codes around here, many up in Houston, etc.....

If I used it, how would she know who's calls are for who?

Maybe she has many lines with the name of the company on each phone?

This is very interesting and I really like the idea of someone answering the phone when I am working.

Chris, I let April know on a Friday the 22nd of Feb that I wanted to use her service, by Monday morning she had me my own 281 Local Houston area code phone # that I could forward any phone to. I am sure April will stop by and answer some of the other questions you have asked. I need to find out about the telemarketer one too. It would be cool if she has a way of "Blocking" those after they call the first time, so they can't keep calling, like the great folks at Remax that are working on a project and only need one pressure washing contractor...lol.
 
It would be nice to get rid of the telemarketer calls once and for all.

I remember a few years ago they were selling some kind of box on tv that would send some kind of signal back to the telemarketer that would let their machine know either your phone was a fax or busy or something like that so it would not try anymore. I have not seen those commercials anymore so I don't know if they ever worked or not but it would be nice to have if they did.

It is easy. That is something we are very good at, creating a phone # that is local for you to forward too. I actually pull a line and get you all hooked up. When you forward your line it will ring with Caller ID that says Superior Power Washing and your account pops up on the screen. Yes, we purchase many many lines and own them. What I meant is that some days I get between 3 and 10 calls from telemarketers that are trying to sell me stuff that I don't need or want probably 99% of the time.

I was worried that that amount of calls would eat up the total amount of calls I am allowed with your service so between the telemarketers and regular customers, I was worried that there would be a huge fee involved over and above the regular priced program.

Just want to add that they also email me reports weekly showing all the calls that they took messages for.
