my sectiom 179 tax deduction

I got the 6.2 liter. It comes with a 5 year 60,000 mile warranty. Since the planned life expectancy of these trucks is five years, I think it is a solid fit. They will be idling a lot. In doing this, I have found that the start stop cycles of the trucks kill the batteries. I hate having guys broke down in the field, and unless I am willing to put a pair of batteries in the truck, and put chargers on them every night, I am going to have serious battery failures, particularly since there are so many Amber lights on the trucks. (If they ever come in. They were supposed to be here last thursday, I had to actually buy additional lights locally so that we could hit our start date.) With Diesel at $1 a gallon more, I would never overcome the price difference with the added $10,000 diesel premium. I could run the numbers, and have before, but even if diesel is at a price comparable to gasoline, with a $7000 premium, the trucks would still have to drive 30,000 miles a year to have any return on investment, all things remaining the same. I think that these trucks are likely to only be doing about 30,000 miles a year max, so it just does not make sense.

We always forget about the idle time, low miles but it idled for three years. LOL

Don't remind me of that. That was a horrible day. We are going to lock the doors so that the trucks cannot be driven away. It will be a little hassle, but with frequent starts and stops, I think that we will be okay.

I knew you didn't forget , just reminds me of when I was talking to one of my guys from a pay phone and heard the phone drop and hollering while the guy was driving my truck away.

Ron , what happend there?..

Scott you having the trucks modified to stay on with the key removed, that may be the best option.

I think there is a system like that, once you put your foot on the brakes without the key it kills the engine.

I have had trucks stolen, early on we lost about 4 total. Only one because the guy left keys in while working. One while on the phone.

Good move on the gas engines vs diesel. the cost in diesel is just not there anymore. Also with the new clean burn rules you have to buy expensive additives.

Scott,
What type of work will you be doing that requires that quantity of machines and trucks?

Hey Scott are you going to put in a GPS Tracker on your trucks? Whats your vehicle of choice to over see the whole operation? Make sure yours has ultra comfortable seats like a nice leather Captains chair.. Your the bossman who may now do most of your work on the seat of your pants and Bluetooth. Excited for ya Bro... I had that dream at one time.

The supervisors are driving f-150's. I have to admit that even with the little v-6 engine, they move righton down the road, and are very comfortable. I will continue to drive my F-250, bcause it is all lit up and ready to go.
