I got the 6.2 liter. It comes with a 5 year 60,000 mile warranty. Since the planned life expectancy of these trucks is five years, I think it is a solid fit. They will be idling a lot. In doing this, I have found that the start stop cycles of the trucks kill the batteries. I hate having guys broke down in the field, and unless I am willing to put a pair of batteries in the truck, and put chargers on them every night, I am going to have serious battery failures, particularly since there are so many Amber lights on the trucks. (If they ever come in. They were supposed to be here last thursday, I had to actually buy additional lights locally so that we could hit our start date.) With Diesel at $1 a gallon more, I would never overcome the price difference with the added $10,000 diesel premium. I could run the numbers, and have before, but even if diesel is at a price comparable to gasoline, with a $7000 premium, the trucks would still have to drive 30,000 miles a year to have any return on investment, all things remaining the same. I think that these trucks are likely to only be doing about 30,000 miles a year max, so it just does not make sense.
