As always Ron you have a interesting way of looking at the industry. Hats off to you!
Its truly not as much the BBS as the net.
I net has affected org and businesses that i have grown with. Some got on board and others didnt.
Example, PWNA doom was the closing of there successful BBS. Instead of fixing the problems and taking the problems to the next level they closed the bbs because it was easier.
I'm not ragging on this org, just pointing the obvious facts of the down falls.
There were others, No conventions, no business plan over a time period. The new president would start something and leave one year later and nothing ever got accomplished long term.
PWNA strenghts certainly are education platform, this started with delco university.( pioneers in PW education)
The same people that started Uamcc started pwna. Delco university is the leader in educating PW contractors. ( no one can dispute this)
The single biggest mistake of the PWNA was not to share the education programs with anyone that would particpate.
The largest mistake was not following thru with local chapters of the org.
With the Net at barking and tech world growing the web has done this. the web unites us each and everyday.
The web does the work of what used to take hundreds of volinteers and many paid staff members.
Example, by the end of todays close. A certain percentage of the PW community will read this post.
What is and org, its a collective body of people coming together with the same interest. its a club, its a bunch or guys with the same interest.
Dont invent the wheel over again, organizations have to operate different. they can have the old model platform but if you run them traditional they will not work.
Have you studied the modern problems very old are having in todays world? I have, you would be surprised at the struggles some conventional giant orgs have had over the last 5 to 10 years.
The information highway some would sy is destroying things. Its not, people just use this as and excuse for not wanting or ingnorance to changing.
