Down here we have alot of sugar sand that will come out of the hydrants and into your tank. It's real fine sand that after time will wear on seals and valves.

I have been pretty lucky with pumps myself buy draining my tank and vacumming out the debris on the bottom.

Gotcha, had to do that from time to time working off of wells.

It's funny, people swear by general pumps and honda engines. All the brands seem good to me, I haven't seen one personally that was a lot better than another one but my 10 gal generals have gone through packings which I haven't had a problem with before. What is a good price and place to buy a udor?

General has started changing their packings so they may get better. E-spec sells udors. I think I pay about $1200 a pump from my local Landa guy. They are cheaper from E-spec, but I like to support the local guy when I can. A Honda 13 hp is one of the best motors made, but every thing else they make is crap. Run a Honda 20 hp 10hours a day and see how many years you get out of it compared to a Kohler, or even Brigggs.

Well i have to say just the opposite, i have thousands of hours on my Honda's and never a problem. I am running 24hp Honda's on all 3 machines and they see 10hours plus on some nights on a regular basis.

Nick, I am glad they are working for you and I honestly hope they last twice as long as you hope they will. Guess it's like a ford/chevy thing. You like what you like:)

Well i have been using these engines for almost 16 yrs not the same ones but all Hondas and never a problem. I would say that is a good track record!!

Trust me if they sucked or gave me trouble i would be the first one to agree, i did have 1 Kohler in all this time and i could not wait to get rid of it, it was a 18hp POS.

Safety tip: I don't know if I mentioned this before. I keep a 5vr full of fresh water at the job in case I spill some chems on me or just to rinse off with. I usually leave it on the tail gate so I know where to find it for an eye wash or just to cool off.

Marcus, do you have the swivel at the gun after the leader or between the leader and the hose?

I have my swivel between the hose and ball valve, the ball valve attaches to the wand, surface cleaner or whatever else I can find. hahahahaha
I put the swivel between the gun and the leader hose. I used to use a ball valve but wore them out too quickly by turning them on & off under pressure. That is why I went to a remote control PLC to turn the engine on and off from up to 300' away. Saves the soles of my boots...:D

Thanks Marcus. I still want to give you a call, just been busy at nite for the last week or so.

who is your vendor for the remote control units?

I learned by example that next time someone calls me to say, " I have a painted deck I need a bid to get stripped down."

I'll say, "I'm sorry Mr. Mrs. ______, you will need to contact a painter for that type of work." lol

Here is a few:

Hudson Valve - It controls the level of the water in the tank. It is absolutely necessary if you have a water tank. Lori with PWP has the new model for the best price.

You can adjust the desired level of water in the tank by using different 3/4 PVC or sprinkler nipples: 3" to 2'. You can easily swap them out by hand, using little teflon tape.

When there is a low clearance, the water heater exhaust can rich fire sensors or just smoke the shi* out of the ceiling. In this case you can use a piece of stainless metal sheet (3x3') from HD for $5-10 bucks as an umbrella.

The best tool for replacing O-rings found by far is a dental scaler. It is sold in most convenient or pharmacy stores for a ~dollar.

The water filter holder invented and patented by FOX! :)...

3 bucks toilet flange from Home Depot.

Tips:
Always look out for obstacles on the ground that could hit the surface cleaner bar. If you are lucky, it will just snap the tips, worse it will bend the swivel. Don't ask me how I know :)...

Fair enough.

I'll say, "I'm sorry Mr. Mrs. ______ from (Washington State), you will need to contact (Colonial Power Washing And "Painting" The 4h Generation Custom Paint Experts) from Reading, Pa for that type of work."
lol

PS There may be a small additional "Drive-Time Fee" but I'm sure it will be reasonable. lol

dont let your employees use a gun with a wand less than arms length. they shoot themselves in the face.

Now that is actually great advice... Also to add. If your using only a gun with the nozzle attached (No Lance) be sure you have a real good grip on that puppy when you pull the trigger or turn on the ball valve. I had one kick back at be and hit me in the scull about a year ago. OUCH! I'm just happy it didn't hit me in the nose or mouth. :speechless:

Always have back up parts. Army standards say 2 is 1 and 1 is none. We get calls all the time for someone who is on the job and needs that 1 simple part to finish the job. O-rings, couplers, hoses, gun, and even an unloader are really nice to have on hand already when one goes bad. Never at a convenient time either.
