Trailer Rebuild...And So It Begins

Ok now it's wired. All of the lights are LED except for fender lights. Grounds for lights and brakes. All 4 wheels have brakes. 95% of the wiring is encased in flex tubing. Wiring is a "Weak Link" as far as trailers, so I wanted to do what I could to prevent problems down the road. You'll notice wires are run through metal tubing coming from the front, through the angle to the back. Then 3 pieces of metal tubing support the flex tubing across the back to the other side.

Added an LED light strip to the back for extra visibility, I'm sure I'll be replacing this frequently.

Bed will be put in this weekend....I Hope.

Hey Guy those trailers are coming along excellent. That color is my favorite equipment and work vehicle color which is the reason my trucks are red as is my 7'x18' trailer. That trailer which is enclosed we had to change out the dual axles yrs ago because of some weight issue's and driving thu city streets with potholes which Bent some axles so since then the axles we have that replaced the bent one are rated @5500lbs each.

The only thing I missed in your story is as to why u want to change out your trailers every 3 yrs? Can't they just be well mainainted and fixed when they have to be fixed so you can make many thousand per each trailer once the trailer goes to trailer heaven or EBay??

Not as many "Potholes" down here as in NY John, must be the .30 per gal gas tax they shove down our throats here. This is my 4th trailer and I have yet to bend or break an axle. Balance is going to be the key here or on any other trailer, and I think I've got it figured out....I hope.

You know I've got a thing for equipment John, just can't help it. Once a machine gets around 1000 hrs I get nervous, I'd just soon rotate it out.

This trailer is already paid for and so is the equipment going back on it.

Sometimes I think about being a Distributor, that would be cool!

Kind of what I have in mind for this one Jeff, building this for our apartments. I really feel 8 gpm (x 2) is all you need as far as washing. Higher gpm poses more problems than it's worth.

Guy what kinda of problems have you had with higher flow machines than 8 gpms? The only problem i would see is the water supply keeping up,and if you had to reclaim that much water.

Ya, all my trailers are set up for condo work, but not perfect, far from perfect. I actually want to have a 4 unit cold water trailer with 2, 5.5's and 2, 8's. We usually work in teams of twos but I had to add another machine to my two unit trailers, so with 3 units its kind of odd, works, but not how I want it. But the ultimate will be the 4 unit and then it will be just one truck pulling it a one ton crew cab and then have my other trailers too. I have the 4 man trailer mapped out, just don't need to really put it together yet.

I have the enclosed with 2 5.5' gpm, but carry over 150 gallons of 12%, its sort of our supply trailer when on the road. Thats a F 250 crew cab, that carries a ton of ladders and extras

Then I have a 3 unit trailer, 2, 5.5's & an 8 holds 30 gallon of 12%

Then I have another 3 unit, with 2, 8's and a 5.5, one of the 8's I just added to it this year, had to

Just added a 1996 F250 with a tool box back instead of the regular pick up back and I added a whole 5.5 set up to that. Has reels, 100 gallon water supply tank, mounting for surface cleaner and has a ladder rack, havent used it yet, its sort of a back up truck for me. I was having truck issues, but couldnt stop running them, because we were too busy, so this truck steps in when another truck has to go in shop.
Plus I can pull my roof trailer with it, just don't do to many condo complex roofs. But that trailer holds to Fat Boys a 150 gallon tank and odds and ends.

Trailers are looking a little rough, but changed out hubs etc etc and they work, just not as pretty as they use to. I have been real lucky keeping all the equipment running, no major break downs, have a guy working for me this past year that does all the daily and regular maintenance, its made a huge difference in less break downs

Maybe I will redo them all, not red, but maybe Gold to match my crown LOL

Best of luck again with it, can't wait to see it all together

Or you can do it that way. Hahahaha!!!!

Hal, I've never had anything higher than 8 gpm. Since 90% of our work is residential (And Again This Is Only My Opinion) I feel this is plenty out of 1 machine for the work we do. More controllable & cost effective. I know higher gpm machines have they're place, but they don't fit with our scope of business right now. That could change, who knows.

D-Mac, the only regret I have had when we first started, was not going with an 8 gpm machine. Talk to Jeff of ABM he's on here somewhere, he started with 5.5 gpm and got a 8 gpm machine a few weeks ago. Ask him what he thinks. The price difference is like $100 it's a "No Brainer".

Just got another one in from Bob today.

Jeff

I see you still use 5.5, thats the thing i can't make my mind up on for just a residential trailer, weather to put 5.5 or 8 on it, would love to here everybody thoughts on that.
I'm leaning toward the 5.5 it will have two of which ever I decide on. thanks for any input guys

Dave
Hey Dave--our largest base is our residential. We have2- 4 gpm3000psi belt portable machines to go along with one 8gpm3500psi hot water PW and a 10.2 gpm 3300psi hot water machine. The small 4gpm machines are golden for us on the residential side. those machines have been rebuilt, replaced. rebiult, pumps rebuilt, changed out--you name it. The reason for that is these machines have many 1000's of hours on them. The reason why we have these portables is because sometimes the truck and trailer stays in the street and the decks, houses etc. could be to far to reach along with many other reasons.

The best thing with those small machines is when we x-jet our chemicals. Also water supply is easy for those small machines on house washes.. But the thing that works best of us on residential cleaning is one guy using the 10gpm machine running off of the water tanks and a hose in there from house to keep some water in there and also the small machine running off water tanks and then all the guys need to do is wheel out the chemicals on a dolly and the 2 powerwashing hoses. The big machine 1 guy just rinses like a mad man and the small machine the other guy shoots on the chemicals.....

There's better ways but my set-up is geared for multiple type cleaning from wood restoration to low ceiling parking garages.... and there is no perfect set-up even though like Jeff says above I am always trying to figure out what that set-up would be.

Good luck

I personally like the 5.5 when down streaming better than the 8 gpm, I cant seem to find a way to do it unless I drop down to a 2.1 injector on the 8's and then it seems to restrict flow when rinsing and surface cleaning.

Does anyone else feel this way?

True.

Russ, I QC the DS'ers at the reels. When we use the surface cleaners we just disconnect the DS'ers and have at it. It would be cool to figure out a quick way to bypass the DS'er though.
