Wal-Mart got in trouble.

Wal-Mart is looking for eviro contractors to reclaim all water from pressure cleaning.

The specifications are going to be across the board.

Contractors will be replaced by one or two state-wide to facilitate the work.

If you contact them your probably too late.

Interesting subject: contractors seem to think reclamation is a necessary thing in all situations.

I recently spoke with a person having the same problem with a 120 store account and wanted info on how he could prove this to them?

On the epa site are the links and simply just pointing them there is not going to get this done.

Keep in mind that people are hire from within these large corporations and municipalities as environmental engineers. Often they and there legal department have to protect the corporation. (This is at least there premise for operating with a closed mind on certain situations.)

I hate using wal-mart as they are a good customer of mine and will make the mistake. They are being lead down a path too more trouble.

If you think it’s necessary in every circumstance to reclaim then you are also being fooled.

Off property discharge holds more liabilities by pw companies then leaving wash water onsite.

Don’t get me wrong reclamation could be better but not by a contractor without the right certificates licenses and calibration testing.

These guys that pick waste water up a dump it somewhere are going to harm the industry more.

There are some possibility that got me thinking, I remember when service station had a company selling dry compounds and they reused it on-site and had a hazardous material hauler remove it when collected. Something similar could work for walmart.

What are you thoughts on this whole mess?????????

More than meets the eye. Another High Volume/Low price Plan that is not good for the industry. Wal-Mart should be Paying TOP Dollar for this service but instead outside influence has them looking at High Volume/Low Price ways to get thier crappy sidewalks cleaned. All this crap ever does is lower the prices we all get and continue to encourage hacks to buy Pressure Washers because Some SUPER PW Company needs some "employee minded" subs to get the jobs done. Those hacks take the gig for the security and repeat biz and take a paycut in exchange. Those types of mentalities are the same hacks that feel $20/hr is good and we end up bidding against that everyday.

Only one benefiting from this is the SUPER PW company that is in bed with Wal-Mart and Wal-Mart. The rest of the PW industry has to try and land gigs while PM's are telling us that company xyz can do the job for 1/4 of your bid.

Bye.

I get top dollar for wal-marts in phoenix. I use to do all of them and they pay well.

They are now being sold a bag of goods. they will pay even more and get less is what i'm affraid of.

that seems to be the thing with all wal marts as of late , quality is down at all stores here ...... employees are rude ,not enough cashiers ,ole sam walton would roll over in his grave if he new what was happening there

its not about the customer anymore ,its about the bottom line,no one cares about anyone much these days and wal mart just wants the cheapest service here for the buck ,not the best anymore

Gwinnett County Georgia is charging $50 to dump up to 3,000 gallons in the POTW. With the rates Denver is charging they are just forcing people to dump in the storm drains. If municipalities want compliance they need to take reasonable actions to make compliance possible.

I can get a wastewater discharge permit here in Denver, I am looking into that right now. I am not sure what it all entails. I called another Treatment facility for thier rates...there has to be something more reasonable. I usually just dump it on my lawn -

Nicole, if you neighbor c's u dumping water and they turn you in? first thing is they will test the soil, if they find any contamination you will be responsible for clean up since you own the property.

The nieghbor may collect damage from you for value loss to his house.

call me crazy....but..

what about filtering all the nastiness out of the water??? Then LEGALLY dispose of the solid waste? via the good ole trash can.

Ron - that was actually a joke......
Im not that stupid :)

Denver offers Discharge permits, you can get one if you discharge less than 2000 gallons per day, but it can only be washwater containing no chemicals and you have to get it tested quite often. Other options of course are water treatment facilities, I found a few more but have not heard back from them yet. $1 a gallon is ridiculous.

Ron- Talked to someone in the EPA office out here and you can transport wastewater without HAZMAT markings as long as you are in a direct route to a treatment facility or hold a Colorado Wastewater Dishcharge permit.

Gary,

Filtering is fine and when the solids dry they can be landfilled. Chemicals in the water could pose a problem if it is a substance listed as hazardous under the CWA. That is my understanding anyway. Enforcement in different areas will vary.

I use a pretty good filter media that removes easily separates water and chemicals.

The wal mart thing requires no use of chemicals.
