Wal-Mart got in trouble.

can't you just open up a valve while driving down the highway?

Lots of guys do that. If you get stopped here and its plain water you get fined. dont know if you did that with waiste water what would happen.

here in wisconsin we have a thing called road salt. i'm sure that causes more damage to the water than diluted chemical. i just thought a highway(not storm sewer)was a pretty big evaporator. i can see the fine being a deterrent...

so how about paying a farmer to dump water where he dumps his antifreeze and used motor oil?

CA state law says that the only thing that can be dumped from a moving vehicle is clear water and live poultry feathers. Dirty water would not be looked at very nicely I am sure.

Ahh, you mean his "burn barrel"...you can throw anything in there, just don't stand too close when lighting it.

Anyone actually know of someone who has been fined? I have heard of folks getting warnings and I understand when it comes to certain types of fleet but would the governmert really fine someone for washing down a sidewalk?

This is another case of some idiot save the trees EPA BS... One day we wont even be able to use drain opener... And the next thing you know they may try to fine people for pouring mop water outside or down a drain... I do believe mop water is dirty isnt it... Dang EPA and Save the World people .. Do you recon thats why we are not drilling fo oil in the US...
OMG we are going to save a few whales and some birds but by doing so we are going to fine you if you dont do what we want and to boot we are going to rip you wide on fuel cost... Wonder what all the people opposed to drilling and members of the EPA are doing now ( WALKING ) .. Wonder how many people at the EPA got a new Mercedes or BMW off of that Wally World Million

Who knows who really understands it?? i dont see much difference from rain water run off, it still collects all the loose oil, grease, brake dust, etc. im not saying there souldnt be restrictions, just thought out a little better.

You got it

We currently service all of the sams clubs here in vegas and one thing the scope of work states is that all waste water is stored, transported, manifested and disposed of according to all local, state and federal regulations. I know the manager for the Las Vegas water reclamation facility and he stated that it was ok to dispose down a sanitary sewer as long as the water was filtered and no chemicals were being shot down the sanitary sewer. I have explaned this to Walmart and so far have not had any problems. The main thing is that you are complying with all local, state and federal laws. You also have to watch out for the health district in certain situations.

We tried getting in on several occasions but have not really gotten anywhere with them.

I tried selling the Sam's club here and they have a specific policy of hauling away the waste water, not processing it and sending the gray water down the sanitary sewer even though I told him about my recovery/reclaim system, the dry wells, etc....

He told me that anyone (even managers) not following this would probably be fired for not following policy on EPA issues like that so this is very hard for me to believe, they shut down the Wal-Mart pressure washing since last summer because of this policy.

I was told that this is a Nationwide policy, not local or a few states. I just talked to the Sam's club manager and assistant manager that I have known for over 15 years yesterday and the policy is still the same.

I just find it very hard to believe that a manager would risk his job to have a store cleaned without following the policy.

Do you have to have a license for operating a business in Vegas? I know some companies do and there are a lot that do not and are risking bad publicity and possible fines and or jail time for operating without a license.

Here there is no license but I wish that there was a requirement so that would cut down on some of the Dumba**es, lowballers and hacks that are in the landscaping or lawnmowing business that jump into the pressure washing business with a cheap machine and have no education, no training or experience and are out there damagaging property and lowering the prices for the reputable businesses out there that are doing good work.

I know that this business is not rocket science but if you have a failing business and you jump into another one without getting any training or learn from others what gives you the right to be pricing to hurt the reputable companies out there that are doing good work and are educated or learned the skills from others out there?

Sorry I went off on a tangent here but sometimes I am passionate about certain things. hahahahaha

Why did you stop?

I find it very offensive to ask me if I'm liscenced. I have poured countless hours and money into my company. Bottom line is compliance with the EPA. I'm well aware of what I can and can't do. Every city is different as far has disposal of waste water. I have contacted the regional manager, home office, health district, city of las vegas and water reclamation district.

The problem is that Las Vegas is not very accomidating when it comes to environmental pressure washers. There is almost no place for you to take the water for safe disposal and one of the few companies that will actually take the water has to pick it up at your site. It was reccomended to me by the wastewater treament facilty manager and the EPA that we dispose down a sanitary sewer as long as it contained no chemicals, oil, grease, ect... I then notified the regional manager for Sams club as well as home office to inform them of our findings. The information we had obtained was a pre requisite to our vendor number. They would have never approved us if they felt we were in violation. When we were initially invited to become a vendor , the new rules had just taken effect. It took over 7 months for us to obtain that vendor number, and by the way they required us to provide them proof of our license, insurance, workmans comp, corporation and equipment. All in all I think you got us mixed up with some washed out landscapers who all of a sudden decided to head on over to local home depot, purchase a dewalt pressure washer and start out on a cold new venture.

Read what I wrote again, I was simply asking you a question, not trying to offend you because if I was you would definately know it but I am not that way unless someone tries to piss me off but that is hardly ever the case.

That is why I mentioned that here there is no license and wish that there was.

Read what I typed and don't assume, you know what assuming does. hahahahahahaha

Again, read what I typed, I was not talking about you, I was talking about the locals in my area along with the license that I wish that they had here and went off on a tangent, go back and read what I typed and you might be able to understand.

But since you are commenting, you did not answer about the licensing, do they require it there in Las Vegas or not? Just curious.

Sometimes people do not read everything and start to do the assuming thing and we all know what happens then. hahahahahahaha
