Delavan Fatboy set up Demo

True Scott, if you could keep the temp at 160F, like the graph shows for the 5800 series http://www.delavanagpumps.com/downloads/PowerFLO/PF 5800-5900 Install.pdf, you should be fine for 2 hours or so.

You could also wire the pump with some kind of thermal switch. Or run two pump intermittently off the generator for the big projects.

Good ideas, but I think its getting a little too fancy, when just opening and closing the ball valve completely does the trick. We've been using the same Fatboy w/ the same relay switch since August or September, w/ no issues. Its actually the longest any pump has lasted for us and we figured our luck would run out soon, so we ordered another one as a backup just in case. lol.

Scott never use the fat boy we usual use 5800 , are we realy that much better.

Thermal switch maybe a bit much I agree, but I am almost sure Bob could set it up.

I nice to have a backup of most things, I know how you feel, when anything quits with no spare I feel at a loss.

impressive. how far does the fatboy shoot with a 0030 or 0040 tip? i am trying to keep from climbing any more than i have to.

kewl beans

ladders are no problem i just prefer staying off of the roof. what i meant by my question was your estimation on how many feet the spray was using a zero degree nozzle?

thanks russ,

rando

That fat boy will do that easily. I've actually gotten 35-40 ft with my sureflow and a 0030 tip. The new comet pump I use now will spray 45 ft without any problem using a 0040 when I've got it all the way cranked up.

I agree Russ. Straight shot your loking at 25-30 feet and max distance would probably be 35-50 feet depending on the wind conditions, and battery power.

Yea, after having so many problems with the chemical bandit, we switched to the Fatboy as a temporary fix, and have pretty much decided to stick with only the fatboy. I dont know if you've seen some of the jobs we've done, but we've done some very large jobs, 8000-13000 sqft residential homes, w/ high pitches hotels, etc and have not had 1 issue with distance or speed. It rvials the performace of the old bandit, and is by dar the best 12v on the market.

You may have an issue with the batterys dying, but we hardwired our battery directly into out trailer harness, so when the trailer is connected to the truck, it charges the battery.

1 WARNING: You can not adjust the flow with a gun or ball valve. It either has to be on or off. No halfway on for less flow. reason being is it works with a relay switch and when its half way on, it turns itself on and off very quickly and burns it up. We went through 5-6 switches before we figured out what the problem was. I would get some ectra relay switches just in case though. Not the ones from radio shack either, they've got to be heavy duty ones like out of a car for the windows or horn.

Whats the difference between using with a relay and without? I dont think Bob wired a relay in when he made the video on the installation of the Delevan.
Explain more on how you hard wired the battery in with the trailer lights.

Thanks

The relay comes on it from the factory. Bob doesnt rig it up, delevan does, and honestly, I dont know what the difference would be, im not very inclined in the electric stuff. I just know what the problem was and how to avoid it.

And in the name of honesty again, you'd have to ask my wife about the wiring of the battery, she did it. lol. Shes good at those things.

Maybe Russ can chome in on the relay question.

Alright. Have her log in and help a brotha out. :D :D

Good stuff guys, I think I'm going with the Fat Boy and glad I waited from last year. Sorry Russ for missing the RT. I was planing on coming but we found a foreclosure house were trying to buy and it's one of those "all money on deck" kind of things,,,got to wait and see what the down payment requirements are, it changes literly daily. Really sorry I missed that one as it was the one "non local" one I wanted to go to. Confirm that hose in the vid came from Bob and what hose is it? Thanks.
