You did a great job on the demo Russ. Everything from your pwr washing units and chems to the Roof Cleaning settup demo. I really enjoyed checking out your rig. I didn't didn't know you were being filmed or I would have stayed out of it. I realize now that it's not true about the camera adding on 10lbs. It adds more like 40lbs. Hahaha! :D Damn I need to diet! :(

Thanks Russ, I commented on another post about the useful function of high volume chem pumps.

Did you get the upgraded 5/8 hose at Bob's?

Thats actually 1/2 in hose! Its is from Bob, I use 40 gallon orfices and the flow is almost exactly the same as 5/8. Its is about half the weight as well and not rubber coated so it slides way easier and does not drag on shingle edges, much much better!

In this video you saw the out put at factory settings on the Delavan Fatboy with a 2540 tip after coming thru 300 feet of 1/2 in hose.

Hey Russ, I cant watch the video because of my company firewalls, what did you think of the Fatboy? What was your analysis?

I like it, way better in my oponion Scott.

The Flow is better and the heat transfer is better as well, it does not overheat like the 5800 did.

Also I have switched to a 1/2 inch hose and I get way more distance when I use a 0 tip as well/

Overall a better design all the way around.

I think if my memory serves me correctly you have one now right?

I did not get to see that demo as I was getting ready for the hose rolling contest.

I like the idea of 2 batteries so it will last longer and provide more amps until the very end which should help the pump motor last longer instead of starving it for amps.

Looks like that fatboy is a winner!

I use the same 1/2" hose, I have about 220' on the hose reel and the rest of the 300' roll is setup for an extension for when needed.

I do not have the 5 degree nozzle, I need to get one to try it out, that might be real good on roofs to help control runoff.

Great video. Great Job with the demo and instructions Russ!

Thanks again for the great Round Table.

Great video. I have had the fatboy for about 3-4 weeks now and love it. We upgraded from a sureflow 3.6 and WOW what a difference.

Yea, after having so many problems with the chemical bandit, we switched to the Fatboy as a temporary fix, and have pretty much decided to stick with only the fatboy. I dont know if you've seen some of the jobs we've done, but we've done some very large jobs, 8000-13000 sqft residential homes, w/ high pitches hotels, etc and have not had 1 issue with distance or speed. It rvials the performace of the old bandit, and is by dar the best 12v on the market.

You may have an issue with the batterys dying, but we hardwired our battery directly into out trailer harness, so when the trailer is connected to the truck, it charges the battery.

1 WARNING: You can not adjust the flow with a gun or ball valve. It either has to be on or off. No halfway on for less flow. reason being is it works with a relay switch and when its half way on, it turns itself on and off very quickly and burns it up. We went through 5-6 switches before we figured out what the problem was. I would get some ectra relay switches just in case though. Not the ones from radio shack either, they've got to be heavy duty ones like out of a car for the windows or horn.

Good idea about hard wiring Scott.

If you wanted to use a ball valve to reduce flow, the bypass model (7970) would be better suited.

Most of us run the demand pumps directly off of 12V batteries, if you used the bypass model it would still be running when you are at reduced flow or not spraying, it would use energy recirculating the working fluid thus running down the battery.
However, you could run the fatboy on a 12V generator and run as long as you have fuel in the generator tank.

Well the other issue is that if you run a 12v for an extended period you can burn up the motor. And when we clean large homes, hotels or condos, it would have to run for 3-4-5 hours, and would definately burn up.

True Scott, if you could keep the temp at 160F, like the graph shows for the 5800 series http://www.delavanagpumps.com/downloads/PowerFLO/PF 5800-5900 Install.pdf, you should be fine for 2 hours or so.

You could also wire the pump with some kind of thermal switch. Or run two pump intermittently off the generator for the big projects.
