Delavan Fatboy set up Demo

How are the roller pumps holding up for you? when we used the Chemical bandit, we used Hypros and delevans and neither one would hold up for very long.

Russ, I was just searching on ptstate about dual 12 volt setups and ran across your post from awhile back. I'm having trouble getting the pages to load over there. Anyway, did you replace the dual delavans with the fatboy or is this a different rig??

Russ where did you buy the 5/8 hose and the jrod for the tips. I like that system

Thats actually 1/2 in hose! Its is from Bob, I use 40 gallon orfices and the flow is almost exactly the same as 5/8. Its is about half the weight as well and not rubber coated so it slides way easier and does not drag on shingle edges, much much better!

In this video you saw the out put at factory settings on the Delavan Fatboy with a 2540 tip after coming thru 300 feet of 1/2 in hose.

Hey Russ ...great video. The 1/2" hose is standard for the FB isn't it?

Anybody know how many hours you can run it without it overheating or cutting out. Will it hold up to 10 or so hours a day?

I have ran it all day but not at a constant rate, I dont think any 12v pump would hold up too long like that, not at the flow rate anyway maybe a lower rate like the little shurflo (cant kill those)

northern part number

william, (offdutydude)

do you have the northern tool part number? what part to we need to order from bob to make up our own bobkat?

thanks,

rando

They hold up for about a month of roof cleaning,..but I use it mostly for applying my house wash mix these days and as a backup to the NDP-15.
The key to making roller pumps worth using is making them easily changeable in the field. They're relatively cheap and they shoot very well for a while and they will make you money,..... above and WAY beyond what they cost.
Rinsing them goes without saying,... and also,...I just learned from Apple, that unhooking the supply line when not in use will help also because chlorine is also a gas and very corrosive. So I think unhooking from the electric pumps would be of benefit as well.

I bought a couple of these to play with. One was the complete engine and pump. Sprays a lot of water but haven't tried it with bleach. The other one was in the clearance aisle because of the volute being cracked. Got the engine for $110.

The problem I kept having was the delevans werent keyed, they were brazed and that brazing would break and the shaft would spin independently of the roller housing. Luckily delevan is really good at replacing them, but it would put us out of commision for a couple of days.

The new delevan roller pumps are VERY nice. They are keyed, and are completely field serviceable. They've got 5 bolts on the front that open it for direct access to the rollers. They didnt have it perfected when we used it, and we had a couple of isses with the dipped rollers being too tight, and the berings busted. But the overall design was really nice.

We are happier with the FB than we ever were with the bandit anyways. And as for unplugging the lines, ours is hooked up to our water tank too, and we switch tanks w/ a ball valve, so once we switch to water and rinse, the chlorine gas can't make it to the pump.

Let me know how those work out for you William.
You adding roof cleaning to your business and apt. complexes or want to take some of the heat off your p.w.'ers?
What kind of pressure does it put out?

There is not enough money out there to get me to start doing roofs:D .
I am trying to come up with something for rinsing large amounts of concrete. The trash pump I got puts out about 10 gallons a minute thru half inch garden hose but not a lot of pressure. I don't think it will hold up to bleach. I want something to spray a strong solution on the stucco hotels I do.

IDK man. You may need a Zeta, Hypro or something like what Larry has for a 10 hr. day use. Good luck.

Be setting up a new roof setup next week, using the Fatboy this time. I want someone to key in on the whole wiring the Battery up to the trailer harness to keep it charged. Such as which wire would I want to hook to and if all I have to do is run a wire to the hot side of the battery. I also remember seeing a thread sometime ago about someone that put a solar panel on top of their trailer to do the same, It was just a small panel from Northern I think. Thanks
